House move, hormones and a clothing label!
Finally I took a breath this week having just got back from a much needed break in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire with the family.
Last month was manic, thanks to the fact I like to make things extremely difficult for myself!
We moved house three weeks ago from the coast (Whitley Bay) to a quaint cottage in a village called Horsley, Northumberland.
My two children needed to move to a new school for September, and the schools in Northumberland have an outstanding reputation. We also needed the extra room...I'm expecting a little girl in 12 weeks with my lovely and patient partner David.
Pregnant at 40, I've discovered, is a whole different ball game to breeding in your 20's and 30's!
At 40, your body simply refuses to negotiate and I have acquired every pregnancy aliment in the "What to Expect When Your Expecting...Not Again!" handbook.
I have also gained a weird disability where I drop every object I attempt to pick up: forks, iphone, my purse, tea towels, socks... you name it, they all manage to slip through my swollen, watery tension filled, sausage like, fat fingers.
The fatigue is relentless - bending over, picking up and simply putting one foot in front of the other is now a military operation as I waddle and grow bigger by the day.
Still, the good news is the brain has kicked into overdrive and keeps me awake through the night with do to lists, boxes to unpack, bored kids, begging Customs & Excise to release my stock, chasing suppliers, all while surviving on 4 hours sleep!
With tongue firmly planted in the cheek, I realise everyday how lucky I am to have such a supportive partner, kids and parents and I'm loving our new rural life in the country.
It took a while, but I'm also relieved and delighted to have all the new stock and packaging finally delivered.
And so now the real work begins before baby girl comes, and it's time to get back on my bloated, plump feet. Check list: Get orders out, find more stockists and fulfil my dream of showing Candy Queen Store at the Pitti Immagine Bimbo tradeshow, Italy for January 2013...no sweat!
